🔗 Things to catch
A great explanation of how the Republicans’ proposed $4.6 trillion tax cut is a squandered opportunity. (I also like the math in this one that shows how money funneled into real services through the government goes way further than that same money in the hands of individuals trying to solve their own problems through private services.)
A very 😂 😂 😢 cartoon.
What would happen if you let yourself buy anything you wanted?
Why is the media obsessed with making Gen X extinct?
💬 Let’s discuss
How does money impact your Mother’s Day experience?
Does your family do gifts, service, time together, something else or nothing at all for the holiday? How does money affect your plans? What kind of role does work — especially domestic work — play? Do you get the day off if you’re a mom? Let us know how (if) you honor your mom and how your kids honor you!
I’m a mom of 2 kids (ages 10 & 13). The kids usually make me cards. They did that this year too and wrote thoughtful letters. My husband asks me what I want to do (we are not into surprises) and it will never be “brunch.” This year I said, “I would love us to finish painting the kids’ room today, cause it’s been half-done for a month.” I also will just make time for myself to do a short run and pick up a book I pre-ordered for myself at a local book store. I could call those “me time for mothers day” but that sounds ridiculous. “Day off” is rude- how about “continually think about gender role demands in relation to all labor, domestic included? 😛”.
