I’m a mom of 2 kids (ages 10 & 13). The kids usually make me cards. They did that this year too and wrote thoughtful letters. My husband asks me what I want to do (we are not into surprises) and it will never be “brunch.” This year I said, “I would love us to finish painting the kids’ room today, cause it’s been half-done for a month.” I also will just make time for myself to do a short run and pick up a book I pre-ordered for myself at a local book store. I could call those “me time for mothers day” but that sounds ridiculous. “Day off” is rude- how about “continually think about gender role demands in relation to all labor, domestic included? 😛”.
