New Class! Dealing with debt without shame
A guide to understanding how various financial products work and making a personalized plan to deal with your outstanding debts.
Debt elimination is of the most consistent financial goals I encounter in conversations with folks about money.
Financial media characterizes debt as an anchor around your neck or a mountain you have to traverse — no wonder the idea of holding debt causes so much stress, shame and grief for so many people.
Yet, debt is a reality of life in America. 8 in 10 Americans hold some kind of debt, with 39% holding unpaid credit card balances. The majority of people say their debt is a necessity they couldn’t live without and that debt has afforded them opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
TL;DR: If you’ve got debt, you’re far from alone. And you have nothing to be ashamed of.
In my latest class, I walk you through the steps to make a plan to deal with your debt — but this isn’t the same old budget-culturey, shamey edict to eliminate debt at all costs. You’ll learn how to let go of shame and rewrite your own debt story to appreciate what debt has brought into your life. And you’ll get an overview of how various financial products work so you understand not only what you want to do next but why you’re choosing to do it.

Dealing with debt without shame
This class will help you understand and deal with debt — without shame. Each module introduces you to a new way of understanding debt. You’ll explore how to grapple with debt emotionally without the shame our culture puts on it. You’ll also learn how various financial products work, and you’ll end the class by making a plan to deal with any debt you hold.
In this three-module class you’ll learn:
How to view debt as morally neutral and let go of shame.
How various financial products work, including student loans, credit cards, mortgages, personal loans and more.
The potential consequences of different plans to repay debt (or not).
Four steps to understand, plan for and deal with your own debts.
Lessons include worksheets, reflection questions and quizzes to help you understand and apply what you’re learning to your finances as you go.
Plus, you get a bonus module of related resources for dealing with debt!
Bring this lesson to your students or clients! Lessons include a playbook for educators, coaches and advisors, including a facilitator guide and turnkey materials to build the course in your platform of choice.

I'm excited for this class! Credit card debt has always felt scary and "you must" pay the balance each month. And it's always felt like a failing if I didn't. I'm thankful since doing your other classes I decided to slow down or stop completely and become to feel more neutral about it. I'm also keen to share this with my partner who worked very hard paying off his debts to now being debt free for the first time in his life.
Thank you for this class. It is perfect timing as my hubby and I are dealing with debt. It is very challenging to not feel guilty about building up debt on our credit cards. It is on zero percent financing and slowly paying them off. I think it all began from thinking "we can pay it off later." I am shifting away from that mentality but my hubby isn't quite there. I am excited to dig in!
