I’m going to do something I’ve rarely done in my 15 years of blogging: tell you my content plans for the foreseeable future.
I don’t usually make big announcements when I adjust my editorial plan, because I’m constantly experimenting to discover what you and I both enjoy, and that target is constantly changing.
But this newsletter has grown by about 20% in the past couple of months, and I expect to keep reaching new people with You Don’t Need a Budget in the world. The more people who spend time in our space, the more responsibility I feel to make this a consistent, reliable place for you to come to think, learn and talk about money. So I’m making this uncharacteristic declaration to orient new readers and let long-time readers know what to expect as this newsletter takes its next step forward in a long, lumbering evolution.
Don’t fear: The purpose of the newsletter isn’t changing! Healthy Rich is still a place for misfits to gather and reflect on a new approach to work and money that doesn’t follow the budget culture rules that try to restrict and shame us.
Below I’ll share the new weekly publishing schedule to achieve this purpose, but first, I need to call out the biggest addition: the return of the Healthy Rich podcast!
I’m finally resurrecting my dormant podcast with a bi-weekly show offering advice for all of your personal finance questions.
I’ve been getting questions more and more from readers dealing with unique financial circumstances or just wanting to learn about a challenging money topic. I want to answer them all in the newsletter, but some squishy questions are better answered through the less-cemented format of a podcast, IMO. It’s easier for me to have a conversation when I’m, you know, speaking.
I’ll publish the podcast in the existing feed through Substack, so if you’re already following it, you’re all set. If not, make sure you opt in here to notifications of new episodes or subscribe in your favorite podcast app.
⁉️ I’m taking questions! What do you wish you knew more about? Ask me anything about money, and I might feature your question in an episode. Submit it through this AMA form or send a voicemail here.
Stay tuned for the first new episode next Thursday!
Everything you’re about to get from Healthy Rich
So, with the addition of the podcast, here’s what you can expect in your inbox three days a week:
Tuesday essay or Q&A on our culture of money.
Every other Thursday Money Date for paid subscribers, where I reflect on my personal finances.
Every other other Thursday AMA podcast.
Sunday Embarrassment of Riches, a round up of what’s been published at Healthy Rich in the past week, plus a few more fun things to read and listen to.
Don’t want three emails a week? You can stick to just one by adjusting your notifications in your Healthy Rich account. If you keep notifications on for Embarrassment of Riches, you can toggle off other sections without missing anything! (But you might learn about posts later this way.)
