EoR No. 26: What are you looking forward to this fall?
The changing of one of my favorite seasons 🍁
Top of mind
It’s fall! I know many of you want to resist that and point out that, no way, fall doesn’t officially begin for several weeks. But we’re past Labor Day in the U.S., and that means fall in my brain, programmed for years by the public school calendar. Plus, it’s been cool in my neck of Wisconsin, and I’ve been enjoying the brisk fall-ness of it.
And, most of all, the frenzy of summer is settling down — we can sink into afghans and warm beverages and get focused on the things we want to get done before the year is over. Deep breath…

💬 Let’s discuss
What are you looking forward to this fall?
School has started. Pumpkin spice is on the menu. Leaves are crunching. Vacations homes have been winterized. In this season of shutting down, I often see the opposite in work: The chaos of summer settles, and many people turn back to forgotten projects and resurrect old routines. We’re suddenly able to focus for more than five minutes without sunshine and swim dates sweeping us away. What are you settling into this fall? What are you excited to pick up again or start anew? What pivots are you thinking about making? What have missed amid the summer frenzy?

I’m refocusing on learning. At the moment I’m watching a couple of science courses from the Teaching Company/Great Courses. One is on geology and the other on quantum mechanics. I’m also reading books on the latter.
Generic comment on fall: I’m not crazy about fall because of what looms after: winter. Definitely not a fan.
