I feel this so much! As a Sicilian at heart who lives in NYC, it is a daily battle to fight against the glamorized hustle culture here. Worse to me than even the glamorization of hustle culture, is that it is posited as the *only* way to be successful (never mind I don't buy into the standard definition of "success"). And I agree with you on news digests: I've found a few 10-min news roundups every morning to be the best and most sane way for me to stay informed.
My favorite part of the 10-min news digest is realizing I'm getting by just fine with it and never needed to know all that firehose of junk I was consuming. (This has also proven true for my partner, who *works* in electoral politics.)
I think winter is winter for a reason… in this part of the hemisphere… a reminder to slow Down, instead it feels like the holidays is one of the most hectic times of the year… I personally try to do “do nothing days” and I kindly encourage and remind my loved ones…. That without that force to do nothing days…. I would be a zombie/manic human.
With the benefit of hindsight, I can see that my most basic core desire has *always* been for a slow life. My life's (ongoing!) work has been to orient, and reorient, to that over and over again. Having that same desire named, shared, and affirmed by others helps. Thanks, Dana, and here's to us! 🦥

That's a great reminder to resist the hectic pull of the holidays. We need to hibernate!

Oh my goodness, same here! Maybe I'll remember it this time..? 🙂↔️
We'll keep reminding each other ❤️🔥
Adjacent to the subject of slowing down and rejecting toxic positivity, I liked a post I read yesterday. I have no personal or paid connection to this person. Thought you might enjoy it. https://kaitlinsm1th.substack.com/p/the-will-not-to-care-becoming-a-bad
Thank you! I love the concept of "becoming a bad woman." 💖
