  1. Create the essay in a Google Doc with sharing settings on “Anyone on the internet with this link can edit.”
  2. Fill out the submission form below, and add the Google Doc link.

That’s it! A few notes:

  • We require Google Docs because they facilitate collaboration well and anyone can create an account for free. If you prefer to compose elsewhere, just copy+paste your essay into a Doc to submit :)
  • We ask for a summary. Don’t fret over it! We won’t judge your summary. It just helps us confirm your essay fits the theme.
  • We don’t publish anything without your permission. You’ll hear from us if we’re interested in your essay, and you’ll approve all edits before publication.

Judging process and criteria:

👩‍⚖️ Publication decisions are determined by Dana Sitar, Healthy Rich Co. founder and editor, and Farrah Daniel-Bermudez, a Healthy Rich writing contest judge.

👩‍⚖️ Winning essays will fit the theme, showcase exceptional writing, and provide our audience a valuable perspective on work, money or both.

👩‍⚖️ All submissions must be original and previously unpublished. No simultaneous submissions, please — thank you!

Editorial process:

We’ll let you know via email within three weeks of the submission deadline if we pick your essay for publication. If you don’t hear from us by then, assume we didn’t choose your essay for this contest, and feel free to submit or publish it elsewhere.

Once chosen for publication, your essay will go through our editorial process, including:

📝 One round of substantive feedback and revision suggestions from the editor.

📝 Revisions from you.

📝 Copy edit from the editor and your approval.

We publish essays throughout a 12-ish-week publication period on the Healthy Rich blog and include them in our newsletters to 2,500+ subscribers.

Rights

By agreeing to publication, you grant Healthy Rich/Dana Sitar first electronic rights to your essay, which means:

  • We have the right to publish the piece in a digital format (e.g. on the website).
  • We’ll be the first publisher of the piece.
  • After the piece is published once, all rights revert back to you.
